Description

The project involves the development of Lae Port to meet the expected growth in traffic in Papua New Guinea. The project includes the construction of a new container terminal at Motukea, situated 10 km north of the existing Moresby port. This new terminal is intended to handle all container traffic currently serviced by the current Port Moresby port. It will have an initial capacity to handle 65,000 TEUs per annum along with 175,000 freight tons of general cargo on container vessels. Additionally, in the East Tidal Basin of Lae, a container terminal is already operational and is slated for imminent expansion to become a two-berth facility. Initially, it will have the capacity to handle 140,000 TEUs per annum and 365,000 freight tons of general cargo on container vessels.
