Description
Description | Concession of services in the South Atlantic hydrographic region that connects Uruguay and Brazil (Lagoa Mirim and Canal São Gonçalo/RS) The qualified stretches of the São Gonçalo Canal and the Lagoa Mirim Waterway, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, make up the so-called Brazil-Uruguay Waterway. The venture is structuring for logistics integration in the southern region of the South American continent. Lagoa Mirim is a water body located on the border between the State of Rio Grande do Sul, in the extreme south of Brazil, and Uruguay. Today, the depth of the navigation channel is not sufficient to guarantee safe vessel traffic throughout the year. The project aims to deepen and maintain the navigation channel, ensuring safe vessel traffic on a permanent basis. The project will improve the safety, reliability and efficiency of waterway transport, with consequent mitigation of environmental liabilities generated by inadequate operation. Lagoa Mirim Waterway: stretch between the Sangradouro Channel (Extreme North) to the Access Channel to the Port of Santa Vitória do Palmar (Extreme South). São Gonçalo Canal: connection between Lagoa Mirim and Lagoa dos Patos. Concession objectives: Deepening and maintaining the navigation channel, ensuring safe vessel traffic throughout the year. The investments are related to dredging and signaling. The project was qualified in the PPI through Resolution No. 195, of August 25, 2021, of the Investment Partnership Program Council of the Presidency of the Republic, converted into Decree No. 10,865 of November 19, 2021. |
