Description

Description

The project company was 50% owned by the private operator (Alfa Omega) and 50% by the state of Jalisco. Its construction started in May. 1990 and ended in Jul. 1991. Financial closure was achieved as follows: 33% in equity from the private sponsor, 13% in equity from the state government, 10% in transfers from CAPUFE (state owned company that manages public toll roads), and 45% in debt from Banamex. This project has been selected to be turned over to the government in 1999: the sponsor difficulties in honoring the project related debt led to the establishment of an agreement in the end of 1997 in which the government will pay the sponsor's debt in exchange for the concession rights (the government will start operating the road in 1999). (Note: all values were converted to 1990 values from their original 1993 values.)
