Description
Description | The Lakach project is a deepwater gas field development located approximately 65 km offshore in the Gulf of Mexico at a water depth of roughly 900 meters. The project involves subsea wellheads, flexible risers, umbilicals, and either a floating production unit or a long-distance pipeline to shore infrastructure. The field holds estimated recoverable gas reserves of approximately 847.9 billion cubic feet with associated condensate liquids exceeding 3.5 million barrels. Grupo Carso signed a service contract with PEMEX in July 2024 to develop the field with a structured investment program of US$1.88 billion, but no capital was deployed and no physical operations commenced. Grupo Carso exited the project in May 2026 citing economic and technical challenges. |
