Description
Description | Pacific Elm Properties, majority owned by Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon, plans to develop an entertainment destination near Lake Crabtree along Interstate 40 in Wake County. The project aims to combine outdoor experiences with revenue-generating opportunities, including activities such as paddling, climbing, skating, zip-lining, mountain biking, and retail with support amenities. The development is inspired by venues like Sierra Nevada Brewing in Asheville and the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte. Public workshops are planned to gather community feedback, with the first likely on August 19, 2025. The lease deal for the 136-acre site would help fund capital projects at Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU) to meet growing passenger capacity. |
