Description | The project will construct a new wading pool and amenity building (changerooms, washrooms, guard room, mechanical and storage). The project includes the addition of a splash pad, which offers diverse play experiences and an expanded season of enjoyment for young park users. The new amenity building will be energy efficient, accessible and more accommodating to all genders. The much loved "Peanut Pool", constructed in 1958, has reached the end of its useable life and lacks the accessibility and modern features now expected in community infrastructure. The new wading pool will have zero-depth entry, with a ramp and handrails, while the deeper end will be increased to 4’, allowing for greater programming flexibility for children including swim lessons and water safety courses as well as adult exercise programs. The upgrade of the Lakeview Wading Pool will continue to provide inclusive, affordable access to recreation opportunities. The project works will include: - demolition and removal of the existing building and pool basin; - construct an approx. 1480 sq ft changeroom/washroom facility; - construct a new wading pool, water play area, and splash pad; - landscaping and fencing; and, - related works. |
