Description | The project involves building a six-lane tunnel road beneath the geoheritage site of Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bengaluru. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has set up a five-member expert committee to conduct a detailed geological and geotechnical appraisal of the site to assess the potential impact of tunnelling on the Peninsular Gneissic Complex, a notified geoheritage formation within Lalbagh. The project is estimated to cost about Rs 18,000 crore and is being undertaken under a public-private partnership with the state government providing 40% of the cost, rights to collect toll for 40 years, and leasing of five acres of property in prime areas. Currently, two bidders have submitted bids and technical evaluation is underway. |
