Lalbagh Tunnel Road Project

A six-lane tunnel road is proposed to pass beneath Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bengaluru, connecting Central Silk Board and Hebbal. A five-member expert committee constituted by the Geological Survey of India (GSI) conducted a detailed geological and geotechnical appraisal of the geoheritage site. The committee examined the detailed project report and looked for boreholes dug by private consultants to study geological conditions. The government requires about six acres of land temporarily and about one acre permanently for the project. The committee is expected to submit its report within three weeks.
