Description
Description | The project involves the procurement of lamppost-integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure under LEVI Tender 2, funded partly by the UK's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund, through Central Bedfordshire Council. The council, having received a total allocation of £1,413,000 (US$1.9 million), aims to expand on-street low-powered charging options in residential areas to support EV adoption and commercialize the market. Specifically for this tender, a service provider will be appointed via a concession contract to deliver an end-to-end turnkey solution—including supply, installation, operation, management, and maintenance—of at least 800 public EV charge points embedded in existing on-street lampposts across Central Bedfordshire, with charging speeds up to 5kW. The initiative is supplier-funded but bolstered by £100,000 in council LEVI grant support, focusing on locations with identified current and future demand near residential settlements. The contract spans 15 years, from July 2026 to June 2041, with a possible 12-month administrative extension, and emphasizes quality-driven bids (with 80% weighting on quality, 10% on price, and 10% on social value) to align with the council's Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy. |
