Description
Description | The main aim of our project is to promote linguistic and cultural diversity in the EU and to combat language – related grounds of discrimination and marginalisation. The project explores the richness of language diversity in the EU as a part of common European cultural heritage. Language is a key component of our identities and the knowledge of other languages allow the citizens to have a wider vision of the worlds around them. It is an important element in expressing the collective and individual identity. The acknowledgment of linguist diversity is one of the first step towards the comprehension of the others and the construction of an inclusive society. Moreover, the EU policies foster the objective of having the new generations know at least two other languages other that the native one to fully take part to the wider EU citizenship and boost their opportunity of personal growth and access to the labour market. Yet, a lot of obstacles are put to the access of young people to language education and the knowledge of foreign languages can become another level of socio-economic discrimination, preventing young people from access quality educational or job opportunities across Europe. The project aims at bringing together Public Authorities, Citizens, Associations, Stakeholders, to gather recommendations, share best practices in the field of promotion of linguistic diversity (also in valorizing minorities) and in granting access to linguistic education for all, explore EU policies and opportunities for linguistic diversity promotion and linguistic education of young people. |
