Description

Description

The capital of Gansu Province, Lanzhou, is planning to build a subway network due to the increase in urban traffic. This will consist of a total of five lines. As part of the current project, Line 2 (Phase I), which is located in the centrally located, densely populated district of Chengguan, will be partially financed. The line will connect 9 stations over a total length of 9.1 km and will provide a connection to Line 1, which is already in operation, and the regional train station. The city expects an initial passenger volume of 160,000 per day, which is expected to increase to over 1 million travelers by 2040 with the completion of Phase II. The project sponsor is Lanzhou Rail Transit Company Ltd., a single-purpose company of the city of Lanzhou, founded in 2011. The total cost of the project is around EUR 1.3 billion. EUR 200 million of this is to be financed through an FC subsidy loan, which corresponds to a share of around 15% of the total investment costs. The financing is ODA-eligible.
