Description | The Large Cavitation Tunnel (LCT) facility is a state-of-the-art infrastructure project at the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It aims to enhance India's naval research and testing capabilities, enabling indigenous design, development, and testing of naval equipment, systems, and sub-systems. The facility supports advancements in propulsion systems, noise reduction, stealth capabilities, and the design and development of submarines and ships. It is a government-sanctioned project executed in turnkey mode with international technical collaboration, combining global expertise with indigenous innovation. Once completed, it will be unique globally, capable of conducting both closed-loop and free surface simulations within a single integrated setup, significantly bolstering India's shipbuilding ecosystem. |
