Description

Description

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to recycle end-of-life lithium-ion batteries from the largest lithium-ion battery cleanup operation in EPA history. The project involves safe handling, packaging, transportation, and recycling of up to approximately 100,000 damaged lithium-ion battery modules from a grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) fire in Northern California in January 2025. ABTC has upgraded its Nevada facility to process these materials and has been receiving large-scale shipments. The recycling process recovers critical materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, aluminum, steel, and copper, with an estimated recycled product value of approximately $30 million at current market prices.
