The Project involves the development of the Bhit gas field in Pakistan. The Bhit field is located in the Kirthar Block, 150 km north of Karachi in the Sindh province and is estimated to contain approximately 1 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of recoverable gas. Lasmo Oil Pakistan Limited (LOPL), the operator, has a 40% interest in the Kirthar field with the remaining 40% is held by Kirthar Pakistan B.V., a subsidiary of Premier and Shell, and the other 20% by the Oil & Gas Development Corporation Ltd. (OGDCL). The Project involves the drilling of up to 9 producing wells and the construction of a 24-km 24" pipeline gathering system and a 270-mmcfd gas processing plant. A 42-km 24" spur pipeline to be built by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the project off-taker, will transmit the Bhit gas from the processing plant to the tie-in point on the existing SSGC pipeline. The spur pipeline and the tie-in facility will be built and operated by SSGC. First gas is expected in November 2002 and commercial gas three months later.
