Last Energy PWR-20 Nuclear Reactor Project

Last Energy, an Austin-based company, is building 30 copies of a small pressurized water reactor (PWR-20) on a single 200-acre site in Haskell County, Texas. Each reactor unit produces 20 megawatts of electricity and 80 megawatts of thermal power. The project aims to supply roughly 600 megawatts of power directly to data centers nearby, addressing the growing electricity demand from data centers in Texas. The company has filed for grid connection with ERCOT and is in pre-application talks with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. A pilot 5 MWe reactor (PWR-5) at Texas A&M's RELLIS campus has cleared a safety case and expects a criticality test in summer 2026.
