Lateral inspections to determine the condition of the lateral collection system feed lines from customers.
Sector: Water Supply and Storage • Location: Ontario, Canada
Source: Infrastructure Canada
A collection system inspection was done in 2016 which found that many laterals are leaking. A more extensive study is needed to find all the laterals that are leaking and to make a plan to repair. Also confirm that repairs performed to the distribution system lines have been repaired by inspecting the adjacent collection system lines for infiltration reduction post repair. Description
Description | A collection system inspection was done in 2016 which found that many laterals are leaking. A more extensive study is needed to find all the laterals that are leaking and to make a plan to repair. Also confirm that repairs performed to the distribution system lines have been repaired by inspecting the adjacent collection system lines for infiltration reduction post repair. This water infiltration was first observed during collection system inspections in mid 2016. Objective: To inspect a portion of the system laterals that were identified as potential issues in the Closed-circuit television inspection of the main sewer lines. These laterals show high quantities of material flowing through them and have contributed to excessive water in the sanitary system (and correlating bypass events). The source of this water is unidentified. The objective is to reduce the lateral infiltration component. Scope: To Closed-circuit television the lateral in question, which may include accessing through homes if required, working with the municipality to identify access points and determine the extent of remediation necessary to enable Council to make a decision regarding rehabilitation options. Output: Closed-circuit television video to show the source of leakage within the lateral and a report to detail to findings. |
