Description

Description

Sunly, an Estonia-based renewable-electricity provider, is building four solar parks in Latvia with a total capacity of 329 MW, enough to meet the annual electricity consumption of up to 180,000 households. The parks are located near Matīši village in Valmiera Municipality (54 MW), in Dagda Parish, Krāslava Municipality (90 MW), near Barkava village in Madona Municipality (81 MW), and in Zirņi Parish, Saldus Municipality (104 MW). The project aims to accelerate the Baltic region's shift to clean power and enhance Latvia's energy independence. The solar parks are planned to be completed by early 2027 and are financed through international loans without government subsidies or long-term power contracts. The broader ambition includes developing these sites as hybrid parks by integrating wind energy and battery storage systems in the future.
