"The European Commission, in a communication to the European Parliament, ""Ensuring justice in the EU, a European judicial training strategy for 2021-2024"", points out that the current unstable situation is generating new challenges for the EU: deterioration of the rule of law and infringements of fundamental rights. Lawyers must play a full part in the defence of the rule of law, protected by Article 2 of the TFEU. On the other hand, the EC considers that the training of lawyers, and particularly future lawyers and young practitioners, in EU law is insufficient. In order to strengthen their offer of initial training in EU law, the training providers expressed the need to get to know each other better, to share their good practices, as a prerequisite for the constitution of a future network. Therefore, the overall objective of this project is to bring together several operators in the initial training of lawyers in order to improve the quality of the training in the field of EU law, contributing to the reinforcement of the rule of law in Europe. This project is built around two main activities: - First, study-visits between training centers, each visit dealing with a specific theme around EU rule of law and the share of tools and good practices, - Second, the development of two common trainings on EU Law, which will be two compulsory course modules of 2 hours each, with a focus on the acquis of the rule of law and a practical workshop on the invocability of the European Charter of Fundamental Rights. The outcome of this project is to create a common European culture for young professionals, to perpetuate among training providers, the central place of European law in training, which contributes to a more uniform application of EU law and consequently of the rule of law."
