Description
Description | The aim of the project is to provide refugees from Syria with suitable housing free of charge on a temporary basis and to strengthen the local population's capacity to accommodate refugees. Following on from Phase I, Phase II includes the following modules: 1) renovation of apartments that are made available to refugees rent-free for a limited period of time, 2) legal assistance and advice for refugees and landlords, 3) municipal infrastructure projects in communities with a high number of refugees and, if necessary, 4) an accompanying study on housing in the Beirut - Mount Lebanon area. The measures are to be implemented in administrative districts of the Bekaa Valley and northern Lebanon, where the number of both refugees and Lebanese living below the poverty line is particularly high. The project sponsor is the non-governmental organization Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), represented by the NRC country office in Lebanon. A total of up to 111,735 refugees from Syria and Lebanese affected by the crisis will benefit from the project in Phase II. The total cost of Phase II is EUR 12 million. The implementation period is 18 months. |
