Description

The aim of the project is to strengthen the local population's capacity to accept refugees from Syria and to provide adequate housing on the basis of transparent and secure rental agreements. This is intended to contribute to improved living conditions and peaceful coexistence between refugees from Syria and the Lebanese population. In terms of content, Phase III includes the following modules: 1) Rehabilitation of housing owned by Lebanese owners, in return for temporary rent-free use by refugees from Syria or vulnerable Lebanese households, 2) Advisory services, especially on residence, rental and registration issues for refugees but also vulnerable Lebanese households and landlords. The project sponsor is the non-governmental organization Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), represented by the NRC country office in Lebanon. The measures are being implemented in the administrative districts of the Bekaa Valley and northern Lebanon, as well as in the south. A total of up to 4,625 refugees from Syria and Lebanese affected by the crisis will benefit from the project in Phase III. The total cost of Phase III is EUR 5 million. The implementation period is 24 months.
