Leachate Treatment Plant at Dadumajra Dumping Ground

The Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) plans to establish a new leachate treatment plant (LTP) at the Dadumajra dumping ground to scientifically treat generated liquid waste and leachate. The plant will have a treatment capacity of 250 kilolitres per day (KLD) and will be developed using the best available technology. A private consultant has submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR), and the plan has been discussed with the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC). Funding will come from a ring-fenced amount earmarked for solid and liquid waste management as directed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). Approximately 4 kanal of land has been earmarked for the plant, and a dedicated drain is being constructed to channel liquid waste to the plant. Treated water will be safely discharged into the sewage system.
