Leading Light Wind Offshore Project

Leading Light was an offshore wind project planned about 35 miles off the coast of New Jersey, expected to provide roughly 2.4 gigawatts of electricity to the grid, enough to power a million homes. The project faced multiple obstacles including supply chain, equipment and vendor challenges, changing regulatory requirements, and federal permitting issues due to the Trump administration's policy on offshore wind. The developers, Invenergy and energyRe, have decided to cancel the project and informed the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities that they no longer see a way to complete construction.
