Description
Description | The aim of the second phase of the project is to create a structure for Rohingya refugee children to provide them with equal access to standardized informal basic education and school materials in a safe learning environment. Children who have previously been excluded from learning opportunities, but also those who are already enrolled, will benefit from improved education with clearly defined content, better trained teachers, more stable learning centers and significantly longer teaching times. Implementation is in line with the new, cross-sectoral learning architecture (LCFA), which prepares students for formal certification of their knowledge. In addition, the second phase places a clearer focus on child protection measures, particularly with regard to reducing gender-based violence and improving services for children with disabilities. With the EUR 8 million grant, over 37,000 Rohingya girls and boys will receive high-quality informal basic education and a basic set of standardized school materials in a safe and protective learning environment. 700 teachers have been hired and trained to design lessons based on the developed curriculum in a gender-sensitive and student-oriented manner. The immediate target group of the KWI measure consists of Rohingya refugee children, with special attention given to girls and children with disabilities. A large number of the children reach the camps and temporary settlements severely traumatized by their experiences of flight and displacement. Many children have been victims and/or witnesses of severe violence. In addition to learning opportunities, the project aims to provide high-quality psychosocial support, health and hygiene promotion, and disaster prevention to protect children. A special focus is on alternative forms of education in order to counteract the limited space for new learning centers, the special needs of children with disabilities, and the safety concerns of girls. |
