Description
Description | With funds totaling EUR 7 million, the approach of the Learning Centers for Children Affected by the Rohingya Crisis Phase II project will be largely continued in the third phase. In addition to maintaining the operation of existing learning centers and continuing to address the enrolled students, the third phase will place an even greater focus on sustainability and improving quality. In line with the first two phases, the overarching program objective is to increase the protection and resilience of Rohingya boys and girls through access to education and protection services and training of community and learning center management members. After the project has been implemented, the percentage of children who have achieved Level 2 of numeracy and literacy from the LCFA (Learning Curriculum Framework Architecture) should have increased from the current 26% to 75%. The project objective of Phase III continues to be to improve equal access to high-quality informal basic education in a safe learning environment for Rohingya refugee children. To this end, UNICEF will place greater emphasis on the quality of education through the use of a standardized learning curriculum and trained teachers and reduce access barriers for excluded children, especially girls and children with disabilities. In addition, the children will be provided with psychosocial support that will help strengthen their coping mechanisms and their well-being. The project's success will be measured by the following indicators: - Over 37,000 Rohingya children have access to high-quality informal basic education and receive a basic set of standardized school materials in a safe and protective learning environment. - 700 teachers are employed and have additional knowledge and skills in effective, child-friendly teaching and learning methods and psychosocial support that improves the quality of children's education. - More than 2,500 members (30% women) of the Learning Centre Management Committees and 20,000 community members have increased their awareness of the importance of education for children and their capacities for structured disaster management. The immediate target group of the KWI measure (KWI - Crisis Management, Reconstruction, Infrastructure) consists of Rohingya refugee children, including girls and children with disabilities. A large number of the children arrive at the camps and temporary settlements severely traumatized by their experiences of flight and displacement. Many children have been victims and/or witnesses of severe violence. In addition to learning opportunities, the project aims to provide high-quality psychosocial support, health and hygiene promotion, and disaster prevention to protect the children. |
