Description | The Andhra Pradesh government is introducing an ordinance to allow assigned landholders to lease their lands to renewable energy companies. This policy aims to increase land availability for renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, pumped storage, and Compressed Biogas (CBG), while providing a steady income to poor assignees whose lands are not cultivable or lack water resources. The leasing process will be regulated through the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) or a newly constituted board. A minimum lease amount of Rs 30,000 per acre has been fixed, with a 5% increase every two years. |
