The EBRD is considering providing up to EUR 100 million under the Croatian Leasing Sector Framework to leasing companies in Croatia in the next three years for on-leasing to private MSMEs specifically for equipment, light commercial vehicles, trucks and trailers. The framework’s transition objectives are derived from: i) Market expansion: The Framework will support the expansion of the Croatian leasing market by providing long-term financing to leasing companies that in turn will be able to provide long term lease finance to local MSMEs. Such funding should help reduce the impact of the economic crisis and support the recovery of the Croatian leasing market. ii) Demonstration effect from setting standards on reporting: The framework aims at demonstrating improved transparency and reporting by participating leasing companies and to work with regulators on the implementation of new regulations that will extend similar improvements to the rest of the sector. The PFIs under the framework will be required to comply with EBRD’s Environmental Performance Requirements 2 and 9, adhere to the EBRD's Environmental and Social Exclusion and Referral Lists and submit annual environmental and social reports to the Bank.
