Description | National Cement Co. of California Inc. is planning to upgrade its cement plant in Lebec to produce limestone calcined clay cement and construct a carbon dioxide capture facility with a pipeline to an offsite sequestration hub. The phased Lebec Net Zero Cement Plant Project scope includes purchase of pipe; grading, trenching, pipe stringing, welding, coating, backfilling; and purchase and installation of conveyors, biomass receiving and pelletizing equipment, CO₂ cooling, compression, separation, metering and pressure-regulating equipment. The facility will have the capacity to capture 950,000 metric tons of CO₂ per year. Construction is expected to be phased through 2027 or 2028. |
