Description

Description

In 1994 the State of Mexico awarded a 20 year build, rehabilitate and operate contract for the Lecheria Wastewater Treatment Plant to private operator Coplata SA de CV. The Lecheria wastewater plant was located in the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City, and had a capacity of 400 liters per second. The plant supplied water to customers in the municipalities of Cuautitlan Izcalli and Tlalnepantla, both in the State of Mexico. According to the concession contract CMA was going to rehabilitate and operate the existing wastewater plant and had the right to design, finance and construct an additional 400 liter per second wastewater treatment plan on-site. Coplata was a joint venture between Compania Mexicana de Aguas, S.A. de C.V. (CMA, 51 percent) and US firm Wheelabrator (49 percent). Wheelabrator also owned a 49 percent stake in CMA. Wheelabrator was integrated into the Veolia group in 1999, and then spun off in 2003. In February 2006 Wheelabrator was acquired by the Mid Europa Partners (MEP) group. None None
