The project involves the award of a specialist legal services contract (GMCA965) to provide ongoing external legal support to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s (GMCA) Waste & Resources Service.This service manages complex, large-scale waste management contracts across Greater Manchester, including long-term PPP/PFI-type arrangements. The appointed legal team (DLA Piper) will deliver expert advice on contract management, commercial negotiations, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, governance issues, and emerging legal challenges to ensure effective delivery of waste services, protect GMCA’s interests, and maintain robust statutory compliance. The contract runs initially for 19 months from 1 June 2026, with options to extend up to December 2029.
