Economic/Social Impact of the Project Lenzing Modi Fibers India Private Ltd. LMI is introducing in India, State of the Art Technology, to manufacture Viscose Fibres. Viscose Fibers is presently being imported by Textile Industries. Viscose Fiber is more absorbent than Cotton. The demand for Viscose is projected at 1 million TPA by 2020, where as production is only 3, 30,000 TPA. Renowned Modi group has signed collaboration, technical, financial and management agreements with Lenzing AG Austria in September 2008. Lenzing is world largest producer of viscose fibers, having plants in Austria, UK,USA, Indonesia and China. The LMI project is on the anvil since 2008. LMI acquired MIDC 90 acres land at Adl. Patalganga, Taluka Panvel, District Raigad, Declared as Industrial and Chemical Zone to manufacture 80,000 TPA viscose fiber plant. Government of Maharashtra has declared the Project as Mega. Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has granted Consent to Establish on October 1, 2005 & revised approval dated July 24,2012
