Lesotho - Education II Project (Basic Education Improvement)

The present intervention concerns the Education II Project (Basic Education Improvement). It aims to increase the coverage and improve the quality and efficiency of education system in Lesotho. Although great efforts have been made in recent years to improve the provision and quality of basic education, much needs to be done to increase access and improve the quality of education at this level, specially in isolated rural areas. Through the provision of school facilities, training of teachers, and capacity building in the Ministry of Education, the project should contribute to the expansion of access and the improvement of quality of basic education in Lesotho. The project consists of the following components: (1) Primary Education; (2) Secondary Education; (3) Capacity Building (Ministry of Education) and (4) Project Management.
