Lesotho - Poverty Reduction Support Programme (PRSP)

The Poverty Reduction Support Programme (PRSP I) for Lesotho is a two year programme aimed at assisting the country to implement the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS). The operation should in particular contribute to institutional development and knowledge building through knowledge sharing during formulation and management of the performance assessment framework. The expected outcomes of the programme are: (i) improved poverty reduction responsiveness, credibility, comprehensiveness and transparency of the budget; (ii) improved financial management in line with the PEMFAR recommendations; (iii) a more efficient and professional procurement system that will ensure transparency, equity and economy in government procurement; and (iv) an effective external auditing function and scrutiny.
