Lesotho - Two Rural Roads Study

The present project concerns the Two Rural Roads Study. It’s designed to facilitate economic development and poverty alleviation by improving the efficiency of the national transport infrastructure. This project is a part of the Government’s endeavour to develop the remote and inaccessible mountain areas by providing all-weather roads. The study should also determine the impact of the roads on poverty reduction, gender issues and environment. It consists of: i) economic feasibility including preliminary engineering designs, socio-economic and environmental impact assessment studies for Roma-Ramabanta-Semonkong section; and preparation of detailed engineering designs and tender documents for Roma-Ramabanta-Semonkong-Sekake road and ii) Review of feasibility study (1998) and preparation of detailed engineering designs and tender documents for Likalaneng –Thaba Tseka road.
