Lesotho – Strengthening Secondary Education Project

The Strengthening Secondary Education Project aims to improve efficiency of the educational system. The project emphasizes mathematics and science and contributes to the expansion of practical studies in general secondary education. Besides, it aims at improving the coordination and supervision of educational activities in Lesotho. In addition, the project supports Government policies and priorities regarding educational, social and economic development. Moreover, the project should strengthen the Central Inspectorate, the National Curriculum Development Centre, the Examination Council, the Central Materials Supply Unit and the Training for Self-Reliance Project (TSRP) implementation unit. Finally, the project should help to better plan, the physical development of secondary and high schools in Lesotho. The project encompasses seven main components, namely: (i) Secondary and High Schools; (ii) Central Inspectorate; (iii) National Curriculum Development Centre; (iv) Examination Council; (v) Central Materials Supply Unit; (vi) Secondary School Development Study and (vii) Project Implementation.
