The project aims to address the knowledge gaps of Karaaslan Atatürk Imam Hatip Secondary School students and teachers about EU policies, values and opportunities. The local needs assessment revealed that 3% of students have basic knowledge about the EU, and 99% of teachers do not integrate EU issues into their lessons. 60% of students see the EU only as a bureaucratic body and are unaware of the opportunities it offers. Negative perceptions of the EU are also widespread among students. The project integrates EU policies into lessons through an interdisciplinary education model. Innovative methods such as European Parliament simulations, interactive quizzes and competitions will be used for the active participation of students. eTwinning and Erasmus+ projects will increase international interaction and students will be able to communicate directly with the EU. In line with the EU's Green Deal and Digital Transformation goals, an “EU Sustainability Corner” will be created and activities to raise environmental awareness will be organized. Student projects on energy efficiency, climate change, etc. will be exhibited, and awareness-raising campaigns on the EU's climate policies will be organized through the environment club. Learning processes will be gamified with digitalization-oriented education, and refugee and disabled students will be provided access to EU values. At the end of the project, it is aimed to increase student awareness from 3% to 70%, reduce the negative perception of the EU from 60% to 30% and 60% of teachers to integrate EU issues into their lessons. EU Policies and Values for Sustainability Club will be established and activities will continue after the project. Aiming to increase students' awareness of the EU through innovative educational methods, the project offers a powerful model that integrates today's important issues such as environmental sustainability and digitalization into the education process while explaining EU policies to students.
