Description
Description | "Let's discover the Parliaments! From Cesena tothe EU, engaged citizens in motion. The project is aimed, each school year, at second and third-year classes (students aged 12, 13, and 14). Second-year students will follow the path ""Let’s discover the Parliaments – From Cesena to the EU."" They will understand that democracy exists only where every citizen can express their opinion directly or through an officially elected representative. For this reason, through various phases, they will engage in the election of their class representatives, learn about the local parliament—the City Council—and its functions, also in a European context. They will study the history of the European Union, explore its institutions and key figures, and meet Pina Picierno, Vice-President of the European Parliament, in an online session. Finally, they will visit the Italian Parliament in Rome and the European Parliament’s office in Rome (Centro Europa Experience – David Sassoli), where they will become MEPs for a day. Third-year students, after learning about the history of the EU, its institutions, and shared values, will follow the path ""Let's discover the Parliaments – Engaged citizens in motion"" and they will deepen their understanding of those who dreamed, conceived, and founded the European Union. They will explore EU policies on human rights, respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, respect for human rights, and the fight against all forms of discrimination. Finally, they will visit the European Quarter, the European Parliament, and the House of European History in Brussels, and they will meet an Italian official working for the EU institutions. Wishing the students will strengthen their European literacy, they will develop a critical awareness of the European Union and be active, aware and European citizens! " |
