Description
Description | The OrieDown project aims to enhance the quality of life and independence of individuals with Down Syndrome of all ages through orienteering sports while addressing key challenges such as reducing the risk of getting lost and promoting a healthier lifestyle. The project will develop four main outputs, reaching over 1900 people: -Good Practices Guide, a collection of 35 successful cases on inclusive sports for Down syndrome, serving as a resource for policymakers, educators, and sports professionals. -Adapted Orienteering Maps: User-friendly maps improving spatial awareness and mobility, ensuring safe and confident participation in orienteering. -Educational Orienteering Video Game, a fun and interactive tool reinforcing orienteering skills and environmental awareness, accessible to DS people, families, and educators. -Orienteering Pilots: Hands-on training and local tournaments where people with Down syndrome apply orienteering skills in real-world settings. Therefore OrieDown will reduce the negative effects of sedentary lifestyles by increasing the participation of individuals with Down Syndrome in physical activity, while contributing to the fight against environmental and climate change. The partnership will manage to do that through gamification techniques and a participatory approach that will put DS people at the center of the learning process. The project is a collaboration between partners from Spain, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, Turkey, Croatia and the Netherlands, each contributing expertise in orienteering sports, inclusive training, environmental awareness, and creation of digital learning tools. |
