L'Europa vista dal sud: gli isolani e il continente

ongoing

"The project ""Europe Seen from the South: Islanders and the Continent"" (SOuSeEU) aims to strengthen the sense of belonging of Mediterranean islands citizens to the European Union, through a twinning initiative between various island communities. Promoted by AICCRE Italy in collaboration with the Local Councils Association of Malta (LCA), the project seeks to encourage the exchange of experiences and best practices among the islands, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation for sustainable development and European integration. The initiative highlights the unique challenges and opportunities of European islands. Through the events, the creation of a discussion platform and a collective action plan, the project aims to address these challenges and propose solutions at both national and European levels. AICCRE Sardinia coordinates local activities and collaborates with the Regional Council of Sardinia, ensuring the involvement of local and regional authorities. This twinning is intended to be a starting point for a broader network that will involve other Mediterranean and European islands, aiming to organize conferences, workshops, and meetings with local stakeholders to discuss specific territorial issues and develop common proposals. The SOuSeEU project promotes sustainability, social inclusion and territorial cohesion by encouraging the active participation of citizens and local and regional authorities. Through these actions, the project contributes to build a more inclusive, sustainable and cohesive Europe by enhancing the cultural and environmental heritage of island communities."
