Description

Description

L’Europe autour de l’Europe - Festival of European films in Paris runs every March for 18 days in Paris and Île-de-France. The festival screens around 100 films (60 feature long and 40 short meter films) from a total of 31 countries and presents works from all MEDIA participating countries (subject to programming). At least 60% of films shown are of non-national production. The festival aims to: - promote European independent cinema in all its diversity putting in focus perspectives between emerging talents and heritage works; - stimulate the renewal of the European film production and distribution and strengthen transnational collaborations and exchanges; - encourage larger audience participation and support film literacy among young audiences. During the festival, we hold professional meetings, press screenings and avant-premieres with producers, distributors and journalists and offer master-classes and workshops with renowned cinema authors and professionals at film schools. Film related book signings, concerts, readings, exhibitions contribute to enhance the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of European history and civilisation and re-establish connections between the traditions of national cinematographies and young European cinema. Alongside the festival period, the year-round activities and satellite events include: monthly screenings, film programmes, conferences and debates conceived with Festival partners, regular screenings with younger viewers. We expect the overall audience to be 9000 for the central event and 6000 for the year-long activities: general public, student and school audiences, expat communities. Online access to Festival events benefits viewers around the globe and gives greater visibility to our films. The Festival actively develops partnerships with film festivals and networks sharing its aesthetics and values to support the circulation of film works and promote European independent cinema across borders and continents.
