As part of the project, the Liaoning People's Hospital in the Chinese provincial capital of Shenyang (approx. 8 million inhabitants) is to be expanded and equipped with medical equipment. The project is intended to significantly expand the hospital's treatment capacity and the range of diagnostic and treatment options, as well as improve the quality of diagnosis. The project will add 800 beds to the 1,300 existing beds, and around 40% more inpatients from all walks of life will be able to be cared for each year. Once completed, it is expected that around 63,000 inpatients and 777,000 outpatients will be treated per year. A FZ subsidy loan of EUR 44.7 million will finance 93% of the costs for medical equipment. This includes, in particular, modern imaging equipment (e.g. MRI, CT, SPECT). A consultant financed by the subsidy loan will support the hospital in procuring the high-quality medical equipment and advise it on equipment maintenance and training employees in how to operate the equipment, among other things. The project sponsor - the hospital - also contributes its own funds to the financing and uses its contribution primarily to pay for the construction work on the extension.
