Description
Description | As part of the project, a financial contribution will be made to the Liberia Reconstruction Trust Fund (LRTF) managed by the World Bank (Phase IV). The module objective is to create the basis for the country's economic development and to improve the living conditions of the population. This is intended to contribute to consolidating the peace process in Liberia (program objective). The LRTF has so far financed projects to improve national transport corridors (road construction) and projects to improve waste disposal in the greater Monrovia area. The selection of the measures to be financed from the Trust Fund is based on the Liberian development strategy Agenda for Transformation (2012-2017). To date, funds amounting to around USD 196.2 million have been paid into the LRTF. As a founding member of the fund, Germany paid EUR 34.0 million into the fund via KfW in the first three phases (BMZ No. 2007 65 669, 2008 65 345, 2009 66 432). A further payment of EUR 10.0 million is planned for the fourth phase. In addition to the World Bank's own contribution of USD 3.0 million, the EU contributed around USD 79.9 million, the United Kingdom around USD 31.5 million, Sweden around USD 18.1 million, Norway around USD 2.5 million and Ireland around USD 2.8 million to the LRTF. |
