Libramiento de Tecpan

In May 2006 the Mexican Secretary of Communications and Transport awarded a 30 year contract to build, operate, and maintain libramiento de Tecpan to Mexican Omega Construcciones Industriales SA de CV. The road project was designed as 4.4 km long and two lanes including a 600 meter bridge over Tecpan river connecting cities of Acapulco and Zihuatanejo in Guerrero state. The project contract was awarded through a competitive public tender that began in October 2005. Four qualified consortia submitted final bids in April 6: Tradeco Infraestructura-Operadora de Vías Terrestres; Omega Construcciones Industriales; Concesionaria de Proyectos de Infraestructura; and el consorcio formado por Promotora del Desarrollo de América Latina- Promotora Inbursa. Omega won the tender by offering the highest percentage of net income to be paid to the government: 5%. The project cost was estimated at US$17.6 million. Construction began in June 2006 and was expected to conclude in May 2007.
