Description
Description | Libyan Railways signed a memorandum of understanding with China Civil Engineering Construction (CCECC) to resume work on the masterplan for a national railway network consisting of three lines totaling more than 1400km. The project includes an east-west coastal line from Tripoli to the Tunisian border, a coastal section from Tripoli to Sirte, and a north-south line from Misrata into the Sahara Desert towards Chad and Niger borders. The east-west line is planned as a standard-gauge double-track, electrified for 250km/h operation, while the north-south line supports 120km/h operation with future electrification potential. CCECC will work on the masterplan, legal, financial, and technical issues, and final project design review. No financial assistance is provided by CCECC. |
