Description

Description

Due to the ongoing civil war, Libya was already facing significant humanitarian challenges in basic services (health, education, WASH) and child protection before the COVID-19 pandemic. The armed conflict was and is accompanied by massive internal displacement, flanked by significant human rights violations such as sexual violence and forced recruitment by armed groups. The COVID-19 pandemic in Libya is leading to significant additional challenges for the health system. The project ensures strengthened risk communication and community engagement to promote preventive and health-promoting behavior in at-risk and vulnerable communities. Furthermore, vulnerable communities will be given access to improved infection and prevention control as well as to essential medical supplies, water, sanitation services and hygiene (WASH) options. The continuous access of women, children and vulnerable sections of the population to essential health services and food, as well as to education for vulnerable children, will also be ensured. In addition, the project makes an important contribution to child protection, psychosocial support and assistance in cases of gender-based violence for vulnerable boys and girls in selected communities.
