Description
Description | LIFE Climate smart Food Choices: empowering citizens to accelerate climate action and behavioral change in EU food systems (FoodChoices4LIFE) is a transformative project designed to contribute to accelerating climate change mitigation across the EU by empowering citizens as agents of change fostering knowledge, building skills, raising awareness and engaging them in climate action through their food choices. Led by EUFIC and supported by international partners, it builds on the successes of previous LIFE projects (Su-Eatable Life and Climate Smart Chefs) and aligns with the European Green Deal, Farm to Fork Strategy, Food 2030 Policy Framework and the European Climate Pact. The project aims to inspire lasting shifts toward healthy and climate-friendly diets while reducing food waste through capacity building (WP3), public engagement (WP4), and policy (WP5). Capacity-building activities will target 500-1,000 chefs, as well as journalists and communicators (at least 60), and local administrators (at least 40), equipping them to advocate for climate smart food choices. EU-wide social campaigns aimed at citizens, led by EUFIC, will get at least 500,000 impressions, supported by FoodChoice4LIFE AI-based app that provides personalized feedback on food consumption and waste. The project also contributes to shaping long-term EU policy by developing the Vision 2050 strategic document with at least 100 food systems’ stakeholders. Moreover, throughout the project, behavioral, economic, and environmental impacts will be measured (WP7). Finally, by being effectively managed and monitored (WP1), properly disseminated (WP6), and ensuring its impact beyond its lifespan (WP8), FoodChoices4LIFE aims to shift the narrative around sustainable eating, drive long-lasting and widespread behavioral change, supporting the EU’s transition to a sustainable food system capable of mitigating climate change. |
