Life Extension Overhaul of 20 Articulated Light Rail Vehicles (ALRVs)

This project is required to ensure sufficient streetcars are available for revenue service. Due to deteriorating state of the ageing vehicles the mechanical condition (wheels and trucks) as well as body condition (roof leaks) necessitate their overhaul before these vehicle fail while in service. Scope of each overhaul includes: Truck overhauls of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems. Carbody, body work (interior and full exterior), structural replacement as needed, new roof matting, paint, new floor covering, sub-flooring and door exit treadle mats, new articulation bellows, overhaul pneumatic system including air compressor assembly, dryer, reservoirs, piping, valves, fittings, brake actuators, rubber hoses, replace electrical conduits, terminal boxes and cabling, install exterior LED lighting for improved reliability, cleaning of chopper stacks, ECU, air comfort ducts and blower motor compartments, replace propulsion controls with reliable solid state electrical switches (IGBT’s).
