Description

Description

2022 will be a key year for the implementation of our work programme as this is when EU co-legislators will be discussing the legislations proposed under the EU Green Deal. Many of those proposals were issued in July 2021 but we’re also expecting a new package of legislative measures focused on heavy duty vehicles by summer. The French EU presidency (H1 2022) of the Council of the EU will play a key role. It will likely seek to make rapid progress on all the proposals but it is unlikely to secure general approaches already during its presidency, meaning deliberations will continue beyond their presidency onto Czechia's turn (H2 2022) and into 2023 (Swedish presidency H1 2023). In 2022 T&E will be mostly focused on the abovementioned legislative processes. The key steps of this process include the discussions in the relevant EU Parliament Committees and the Council Working Parties; and the plenary votes in Parliament, and deliberations in COREPER and the Council of Ministers. Our strategy will be to contribute to policymakers’ deliberations by disseminating evidence, bringing together progressive coalitions and by ensuring public scrutiny around these processes. Our goal is to increase support for ambitious regulatory action in each of the proposed policy domains by highlighting the economic, social and consumer benefits of ambitious action. 2022 will be a year of deep and constant engagement with our 63 members, ensuring ministers and members of national, but in particular the EU Parliament, have a solid understanding of all the relevant evidence. We will also ensure their positions are scrutinised. Whilst our primary focus will be the legislative processes, we also intend to launch new campaigns in 2022. One on biofuels, linked to the Renewable Energy Directive, and another one on corporate flying. On organisational development, we will update the plan for the ops team and implement a new HR programme, under the directions of a new Senior Director for Operations
