Description

Description

The project aims to update the knowledge of the populations of Macaronesian seabirds, worldwide threatened not only by light pollution but also by the predation by introduced mammals, destruction and alteration of their habitat, etc. Given the special relevance of these populations and the problem of light pollution that affects them (disorientation of flying chickens, clashes), the project proposes the realisation of an important conservation campaign increasing the number of specimens rescued by improving the effectiveness of the campaigns with volunteers that are already carried out. Tammién aims to develop and implement preventive measures that help reduce these accidents due to excess artificial lighting in the future, so it contributes to the conservation of seabirds by reducing light pollution, but at the same time increasing energy efficiency providing long-term environmental and economic benefit.
