Description

Description

Energy consumption from lighting in publicly owned buildings, roads and sites shall be reduced in a project based on past experience. 14 municipalities, one region, three universities and two organisations in Denmark and Sweden are participating in the lighting project, which is about speeding up the introduction of LED lighting in the Öresund region. The project aims to expand and maintain the region’s position as a leading demonstration area for energy efficient and innovative LED light sources. The project also expects energy savings of at least 7 200 000 kWh (corresponding to approximately 7,200 villas annual consumption of lighting, or total annual consumption of 1800 Danish households). In the region, the switch to LED lighting has been slow, says the project. Only about 20 percent of the municipality’s light sources are switched to energy-saving LED technology. The forerunner project Lighting Metropolis has created a platform with a lot of knowledge and solutions that the green economy successor will build on. Also DOLL (Danish Outdoor Living Lab), Region Hovedstadens Veg ljussnetværk and a test environment at Lund University become relevant for the work. In addition to short-term energy savings, the project supports a better and more sustainable integration of LED lighting in municipal facilities. It can have positive effects such as better lighting quality, better indoor climate, increased security, resource and operational savings and coordination of lighting with other functions in buildings or public spaces.
