Description

Description

The project will upgrade the Lil’wat Health and Healing Centre (HHC) to enable the facility to continue as a health facility and to provide food to community members, especially as the Lil’wat Nation’s population and the demand for space grows. To improve overlap energy efficiency of the HHC and meet the growing needs of the community, the building requires several upgrades. In addition to the installation of a new solar power system, these renovations will improve the overall energy efficiency of the building offering opportunities to save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the overall safety and comfort of the building. They have experienced several cases of COVID in their community. This project addresses upgrades that were identified in a series of infrastructure assessments. Due to the growth of the Lil’wat Nation and the increased demand for health services on-reserve, the Nation constructed an additional health and healing centre which was completed in October 2020. The new facility is located next to the original HHC in Lil’wat’s newer Xetolacw community. A major focus of the Lil’wat Nation is providing food, especially to those who have been greatly impacted by the pandemic due to job loss etc. The project works include: - replace existing asphalt shingle with new membrane and shingles; - replace roof gutter system; - replace multiple forced air propane furnaces with new high efficiency furnaces; - replace domestic water tank with hybrid, electric water tank; - replace and refinish exterior building wrap, rainscreen and cladding; - reconfigure kitchen and install new HVAC, fire suppression, commercial equipment and stainless steel surfaces; - replace approx. 11 skylight panes and approx 45 window openings with energy efficient rated windows; - install a net meter, solar power system; and - upgrade existing WiFi infrastructure throughout building; and, - all related works.
